I have one of these. It works great. I used a heavier hand than my wife the first time and actually made them too thin. It's a skill you get better at, but this thing is well worth having for tacos, smash burgers and lots of other kitchen pressing needs. You can even put the whole thing in the oven to get hot and use it to make pressed paninis, but that takes more trouble than it's worth. Obv you need heat-resistant gloves, but it can be done. Anyway, well worth it for $15.

It sounds from reviews that it's particular to each unit. Some people do complain that they're too thick. Buy and return replacement is one way to go.
