8-1/2" that's an odd size for a miter saw. $399 doesn't sound like a deal to me for something this small and odd size.
The 7-1/4" 18V sliding miter saw is on sale for $179 w/4ah battery at Lowe's.
The larger size 10" can be had for around $300ish.
The much larger 12" can be seen for as low as $460.

More options isn't bad. The Makita XGT slider people seem to love is also 8.5".
Referring to the Lowe's deal, I haven't been able to reproduce that for weeks, trying almost daily and shopping from several different east coast cities. They take it offline and then restore it, but I've only heard a couple voices on the internet claiming to have scored one.

I just am going to chime in.
I was able to score the 10 inch saw on the deal for the batteries.
Then I set an alert on lowes to email me about the 7 and 1/4. They sent me an email yesterday and I was able to score that deal too.

Thanks, this prompted me to set up an alert, but when I went to do so, I found it back in stock at a nearby store. Placed the order for pick it up tomorrow. Repped.
