I have heard all the fruitcake jokes, but these Claxton fruitcakes were a tradition in our house while I was growing up (I am 77). The price has risen of course since then, but this is a pretty good deal. Thank you for posting.

This brand isn't a bad fruit cake. We had a an old family recipe born out of the great depression my great grandmother taught my grandmother who taught my mom. She still makes it every year and it is fantastic. I grew up never understanding the jokes around Fruit cake (which were big jokes in the 80's) since I couldn't wait for the first batch to come out of the oven. Come to think of it I need to get that recipe since she is starting to hit the point where cooking is a struggle.

Yea, I could swear my girlfriend got a 1lb one from Walmart for about $4 about a month ago. It was pretty tasty, but I don't think we could eat 3 more pounds of this stuff! Nah I'm wrong, I asked her about it, and it was a 12oz for about $2.85
