I have heard all the fruitcake jokes, but these Claxton fruitcakes were a tradition in our house while I was growing up (I am 77). The price has risen of course since then, but this is a pretty good deal. Thank you for posting.

This brand isn't a bad fruit cake. We had a an old family recipe born out of the great depression my great grandmother taught my grandmother who taught my mom. She still makes it every year and it is fantastic. I grew up never understanding the jokes around Fruit cake (which were big jokes in the 80's) since I couldn't wait for the first batch to come out of the oven. Come to think of it I need to get that recipe since she is starting to hit the point where cooking is a struggle.

I love fruitcake. I think it just became fashionable for people to hate them.

Can be used for self-defense in a pinch.
Bore a hole in the top and pour in brandy or rum. Chill in fridge

My mom has always loved fruitcake, so I always get her one every year. I'd love to make her one using your families recipe if you were able to get it and were willing to share!

I recommend the "Dark recipe" over the light, more of a rum, molasses and brown sugar flavor- less citron and the stuff that gives me the willie's.

I love claxton's fruit cake. I have been buying them at walmart 12 oz for $2.79. I know there are jokes about fruitcake, but my mom loved them and that's what I had growing up. Delicious!
