At this price point, for the casual user, it's REALLY hard to beat the Harbor Freight Pittsburgh 6" bar clamp at only $3.99 (regular price) with lifetime guarantee. Just a random person's $.02. (I own these and have had great success with them. I'm a significantly below average wood worker and that should be taken into account.)

Nice one op. This should teach those cheapos a lesson. Meanwhile I was seriously considering these for general clamping use here there but some reviews are rough.

I would agree, though the spring popped out of one yesterday and disappeared, rendering it useless. Hopefully, the warrantee will be honored without a headache.

Although I've never warrantied anything myself, and I've kind of heard mixed reviews, the overwhelming majority of people say they will simply give you a new one. If you have time, I'd love to hear about your warranty experience after you return it! Smilie

These were so bad but had to see for myself because the price point, the pads are hard plastic and the release mechanism was difficult to trigger. Sliding was also rough. I have a bunch of the HF ones and they're premium products compared to these.
