In old man: I remember when you could buy a NEW NVIDIA X060 level card for about $200, not having to wait for a refurb two generations old to become affordable.

But to the OP, yeah it's good that you posted this. For a starving student who has to buy things with their own money, I still think it's good to have an option around this price. As long as this card wasn't previously used in a crypto or AI farm... and a card at this level probably wasn't.

The 5050 models aren't much more and perform as well or better in many games.

eBay averaging low $120 to high $200, so this is an ok price. With tax and free shipping in CA, comes out to $175.

I just sold my ZOTAC RTX 3060 12GB for $200, got $161 after eBay's fees and shipping. Thinking of buying a Intel ARC B580 instead of RTX 5050 for the same $250 price.

I game on an EVGA 3060ti and I can tell you it is the bottleneck on my system. I game at 1080 so I'm still able to run most of the latest games on high but it's getting tighter. I am starting to look at upgrades for 2026. My point is no one should be buying this card unless you desperately need a sub 200 gpu and don't care about any future AAA games. You won't want to play GTA 6 on this thing.

This killer w/ this is the practically unusable 8GB, otherwise decent deal. Can use for transcoding tho.

This isn't the 3060 you should aim for. If you want a 3060, get the better 12gb model (which was recently on sale cheaper for $156 refurbished from Zotac) or the 8gb 3060ti which is the quickest variant (and was also on sale from Zotac for about $200 refurbished).

I have no clue why this post is getting upvoted, I can only assume people don't realize the scam Nvidia pulled with the "3060 8gb". The 8gb variant is NOT a 60 class card, it's actually far closer to the rtx 3050 than the original 3060 12gb in performance. In addition to having only 8gb of vram instead of 12 (which is a major downside, 8gb is barely capable of running many modern games at 1080p medium), the memory bus is reduced from 192 bit to only 128bit, massively decreasing memory bandwidth. The 3060 8gb is ~17% slower than the 3060 12gb even before considering the vram difference, and would be a poor value brand new at $162, let alone refurbished.
Hardware unboxed review of the 3060 8gb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPbIsxIQb8M

The recent rtx 5050 deal for $190 AR ( https://slickdeals.net/f/18928435-msi-geforce-rtx-5050-8g-shadow-2x-oc-210-or-190-after-rebate ) would have been an inordinately better value than this deal, and that 5050 deal was arguably somewhat worse than the relatively recent deals of the intel arc b580 at $235-$240. If you're willing to look at used cards, a used rtx 2070 super at between $140-$175 on ebay has FAR better gaming performance than the embarrassment that is the 3060 8gb.

And are new and draw less power.

All that, without mentioning the 3060 ti. Can be found for as low as $185 on Ebay.

Right on. I check zotac everyday. Those 12gb have come back in stock twice within the previous few weeks.
