it's utility. people can just go on hike, run, walk, etc without carrying their phone and still be connected to the world in case someone wants to reach out. usually there is additional $10pm charge to avail this service. or you can continue using wifi only and never take advantage of cellular.

Is there a point to getting the gps cellular model if you don't plan on getting a cell plan for it? What can you do with a watch cell plan anyway? Reply to iMessages?

you can leave the phone at home and just take watch to be connected for call/text/gps on cellular without needing your phone. you get a same number as your phone and is a paid service for additional cost.

I hadn't thought of that at all. Hard for me to imagine doing those things with a small screen, but I guess they made it work.

If you don't know if 42mm or 46mm fits you best, go to the Apple store to try on. Also see the bands that are available for the watch. The bands that come with the Walmart watch it's a silicone plain band. When you buy a watch at the Apple Store, it comes with a choice of band. Any band over $50 you would pay the difference. I found the Apple bands to be much better in quality.

Ever so slightly larger battery. On the 46mm battery increased from 1,266 Wh up to 1,403 Wh on Series 11. So a little under 10%.

I couldn't find the numbers for the 42mn, but it is .3 grams heavier, so I'd assume there was a similar tiny bump.

Other than that I would just stay on the S10.

got the s10 4mm gps+cellular for $250; now to keep that or get the s11 w/ gps+cellular for $399...$150 more...
