These are great for not only the obvious good looks; but lawn replacement as well.

Ground cover instead of grass, a few of these along with others that compliment it; and you have a low maintenance, durable yard.

These are invasive like bamboo and the berries (if present) contain cyanide, so they are toxic to birds.
