I mean, it's the best consumer GPU on the market. I love mine.

Woops, replied to the wrong comment.

The 5090 is the best consumer GPU available for AI workloads, by a very significant margin. I'm not even going to use it for a daily GPU, I'm putting it in a headless workstation.

Are you using it to train models or just run them? Seems overkill for just using a model.

Did the 5090 go up in price!? Or has it always been this way?

It's always been insanely expensive, because it's hard to find and in short supply.
In terms of consumer video cards, it's the big dog, the king of the hill. It's great for gaming etc, but also great for AI tasks, mining etc. High demand, with a very high price tag to match.

No. My Ventus is probably worse.

For AI-generated video, nothing compares. The additional 8 GB of RAM over the 4090 and 3090 makes a significant difference.

I am so happy I got the RTX 4090 at launch for $1599 in 2022. Looks like I will keep it for a loooooong time.

I saw some workflows doing video generation and this would help a lot with the extra vram and speed.

Not to say you can't use 4090/3090 with 24GB vs. 32GB if you use smaller models (some are pretty small that even 16GB VRAM will run) but some people may still want to generate the videos faster if they are working on many renders constantly.

Damn they are going to be $5000 in 2026.
