They are selling membership gift packets (shopping bag and certificate) in store for $65 with a $30 bonus card.
I suspect those gift memberships don't have the same "must be a new member" restrictions but I'm not certain.


edit: took a photo of the sign in store today with terms:

Costco keeps track of people who had membership in the past. You are only consider a new member if your membership has expired for 18 months. Tried this in the past and was told about the 18 month part.

unfortunately they are not selling executive membership cards. Only Gift of membership which is basically a $65 gift car but only for membership sign up. You can transfer the gift of membership to a shop card ( Costco gift cards ) if you ask them at the membership desk.
Technically you can guy 2, 1 with a bag and 1 with a hat. keep the goodies and give them the 2 cards - edited to added new info

Nothing about the $40 card showed at checkout. However, it lists NEWMBR25 on the cost and subtracts $.01. That is supposed to confirm acceptance of the promo code.

The fine print says the $40 card will be sent by e-mail in 2 weeks. (And you MUST have chosen auto renewal to get the card.)

Looks like this code (and the previous promos) don't work if your membership expired in 2021.

Primary and add on should have been on same address to get add on in first place. How would they come off add on and create a new primary on same address? Would they allow two diff primary on same address? Asking since I'm not sure on how it works.

Right? These corpos just keep screwing over people who renew or already sub. Starting to really get tired. I won't jump through the hoops because Costco is pretty hardcore about their memberships and it's only 10 mins away. I had a problem with my phone not showing my membership after I logged in, I had to go to the service desk and they had to approve it. Yikes for the future this will only get worse.

FYI, there's a similar deal thru Groupon [groupon.com] (and "frugal" CB) where it just generated a new account using my same email.

My previous Costco account expired awhile ago, so YMMV.

But when I went to create a new account, it would not let me use my old email, had to use another email and the new membership number.
