Bro! He's talking about RAM. Random access memory. Not the hard drive. Windows 11 is slow with only 8gb of ram. The question you need to be asking is why would manufacturers be soldering ram to the board? Because they're up charging $100 for another 8gb of ram. Luckily I just bought my daughter a Dell that had an extra slot and found an 8gb stick on marketplace for $20. Took me 10 min to add.

Nice deal, but what would make it great is if this is one of the Ideapad 3i Ryzen 5 7520 8GB LPDDR5 systems that has an extra SODIMM DDR5 memory upgrade slot. Some do. Most don't. Without an exact model number, it's proving to be hard to determine if the RAM can be upgraded or not.🤷 ♂️

Does the USB-C port support power delivery? Their "specifications" don't say.

Not a great APU. 7520U systems should be much cheaper. i3-1315U/Core 3 100U is superior and systems have been close to $200.

512 GB SSD is good, and touchscreen if you're into that.

Whats the obsession with upgrading and soldering hard drives! That's so 90s. Just pay little extra and get what you want. Deals are everywhere. Unscrewing, and then making sure everythig fits and in place, and then hoping the machines does not act up with dual drives, is just not worth the time and efforts. Are you guys just reliving 90s?
I think you have the wrong idea. A ddr5 sodimm expansion slot is to add more memory. Not hard drive space expansion. Hopefully this explains why people are always looking for this. Some programs tend to run using more random access memory (ram) than others. The on disk space used does not control how much ram will be allocated at initial execution or during runtime. Programs such as browsers require more and more ram as developers live in a world where ram is plentiful. This in turn increases the desire for more and more ram so that users are able to run programs at a normal state and not a degraded state.

Would love to hear from someone who has purchased this to confirm whether memory is upgradeable or not...

There isn't sufficient information on the Walmart site, and the closest configuration I was able to find is on Amazon and that one said memory was not upgradeable.

Appreciate any insight.

Considering its says lpddr5 which is soldered I would say it's not which is a shame. Having 8GB even for a budget laptop is lame by today's demands of Win 11.

Go faster and farther in your work and study with full-function Type-C ports for accelerated power delivery, display output, and data transfer, bigger touchpad, 2-in-1 fingerprint sensor, and 720p camera. Keep up the pace with a larger battery and Rapid Charge Boost that provides two hours of use on a 15-minute charge.
Now $299.00

I actually don't mind if they solder on 8 GB (or 16) so long as they also have a slot so you have some available future options. I suspect though that *most* customers will never really consider cracking a case and adding memory...so perhaps the demand just isn't there?

Plus...if you can upgrade the memory (and keep the laptop running) well, then there's no real reason to buy a new one in a year or two is there?

(Unfortunate, as other than the 8 GB memory on this, I really like this laptop...)

Not bad for a $300 Chromebook with 512g storage . Just lower the expectation and it's a decent deal.
