Having moved to a mouse mat a decade ago through slickdeals i can't imagine ever going back to a mouse pad. Still have my original corsair mat, has gone through multiple washes and still looks great. Worth the twelve bucks

can you (or anyone) tell me what mouse mat you are referring to? I'm seeing some mats rather than pads, nothing 12 bucks. I'm not as concerned about the price, just wanting to learn what is the best tool for this purpose, and to understand why. TIA

I'm a big fan of the large mats (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01798VS4C) also. They tend to provide more area to move the mouse and the weight of the keyboard keeps the mat in place instead of getting knocked around. Some even have wireless charging built in for your phone (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FG828417). One may argue they aren't really needed for a modern optical mouse but they do a decent job protecting your desk from wear.

Just set a deal alert, they massive ones that cover your whole desk get cheap under 12 often; I've got ~16x40" I know I spend <$10 I think last prime day, that covers my whole keyboard and mouse area.

Only negative is heavy use tends to wear the mat out so you will rotate it once to wear that other side out and replace, or so I read, bc I'm 1.5yrs now with this in my office and moderate use and no wear. I'd say it is just a hassle to get fully clean, I don't mind but maybe 2x per year I deep clean things and haven't figured out an easy way to go this other then flip it and brush with something soft to get the dust/dirt off

Had a extra large mat from a brand that stank of recycled rubber, foam causing serious headaches.
Fabric pads are for me.

Purchased this for WFH after my last mousepad had a coffee spill, but my initial impression is mediocre..
It almost has a "wet" feeling -- not to touch, but when moving a mouse over it. I asked gemini why and it said:
"The Corsair MM200 is a classic Control Pad. Unlike "Speed" pads that feel slick, this is made of a high-friction textile weave designed to give you more stopping power."
I don't like it and it's not what I'm used to (mouse is an MX Master 3S for reference). Not going to bother returning as I need something this week, but will likely pick something else up if I don't get used to it after a few days.
