Golden raisins are just green grapes that are not allowed to be sun-dried. They are mechanically dried and sulfur dioxide. It is used to prevent oxidation, leaving the raisin a yellow color. In for 1.

if anyone is curious how to make vinegar, raisins are probably the easiest way to make a fruity vinegar. they are covered in wild yeast so you don't need a starter or anything. you just put them in a mason jar, cover with water and add a little sugar, then top it with a fermentation lid so the raisin farts (it's the technical term) can get out. you end up with very little oxygen in the mason jar so the chances of them spoiling after the fermentation gets going is low.
after a month or so you have raisin wine. at this point you need to turn the wine into vinegar, which requires oxygen, so you take the fermentation lid off, cover it with a paper towel, and put a rubber band around the top. it's important to stir it at least once every 2-3 days at this point. after 2 to 4 weeks you end up with vinegar. i pasteurize mine but i dont think thats required (keep them at about 150 degrees for a few hours).

FYI the 72-pack of 1 oz golden raisin boxes also works out to .24/oz for those who would like the convenience of pre-packed portions.
