Same as BB deal. Sad the $449 deal died before I could check out, I'll probably hold off until the Steam Frame announcement if this is the best deal we get before Christmas.

Having played few games on our neighbors Quest, I think these are great deal for someone looking to get these for VR gaming. We were looking to buy these - especially one of the refurbished deals on ebay. However, we are not as big into VR gaming. Our main reason for buying this would be for their non-gaming (educational apps, movies, PCVR etc.) features (and occasionally connecting with our neighbors for VR gaming sessions). However, with so many deals, especially now with these current (Amazon and Best Buy) deals for brand new units, as well as similar deals for refurbished ones on ebay, makes me wonder if they might be looking to get rid of stock - not only in preparation for newer model but also because Meta recently announced cutting back spending on the VR/AR division? And if so whether the non-gaming aspects might loose support first?Appreciate any thoughts / feedback from people with more experience with VR devices (this would be our first experience owning such a VR device)Thanks.[/QUOTE

I have the meta quest 3. It's a good unit for gaming. But I too hardly use it much for gaming. My primary use right now is just watching streaming video while lying in bed. And in that aspect -- the meta quest 3 is just okay. I'm am really confident that the upcoming Steam frame will be better for non-gaming uses. A couple of things of note when it comes to non-gaming uses of quest 3 specifically --

1. It has same streaming apps like YouTube. But most streaming apps like Netflix are not really apps. They just work via the browser. Which is not a problem by itself. It's just that the amount of control given is limited. I personally find the immersive 'theater mode' for all apps and the browser to have too big a screen. You can kinda change the size in some apps but not always and it's clunky. You can use a smaller window in the non-immersive view but then you have the non-black background.

2. Meta recently clamped down on 3rd-party side installs so you cannot install other environments (backgrounds). So you don't even have a simple blank background. 3rd party ones kinda work within a browser but it's not the same thing as a natively installed environments.

3. A lot of this is conjecture at this point, but Valve has specifically said that one of their design goals was for users to experience 2-D content on the Steam frame. That's why they have full controllers on the controller.

4. Valve headset will be running Steam OS which, like on Steam deck, will probably be open. So you might be able to install any Linux app natively. And there is a chance you'll be able to install any windows app and use it using the FEX translation layer.

Does Digital credit mean it's only for digital items? Ie digital movies/music/etc?

It is a credit that can be used on anything that is shipped and sold by Amazon. No shipped by Amazon and sold by someone else. Unlike regular gc credit that can be used for anything wether it is sold by Amazon or not.

I bought this. The credit is only for $30, not $100. Thus the code is Quest30

Contact Amazon about this. The listing says "$100 Digital Credit for Amazon.com. Code: QUEST30"

At $449, CCC has it as the lowest price ever. With the $100 from Amazon, it's hard to pass up.

In for one based off the excitement in the comments. Haven't used one of these in like 25 years looking at pixagonal dinosaurs.
