This compact 850 watt Anova sous vide cooker is mainly appealing as a cheap way to try sous vide or add a second unit for smaller jobs. The basic app lets you set temperature and start or stop over Bluetooth, and the cooker has been used successfully for chicken, steaks, pork chops, and beef chuck. The main catch is app dependence, with Wi Fi remote start tied to a paid subscription and some concern about future support. It also heats more slowly than larger Anova models and can be too tall for some stock pots, making it a handy but limited little cooker.
Common Questions (4)
Yes. Basic operation requires the Anova app, but setting temperature and starting/stopping the cooker works without a subscription over Bluetooth. Wi‑Fi remote start is the feature tied to the paid plan.
Yes, Wi‑Fi remote start is reported to require a paid subscription, often described as about $10 per year. The basic app functions remain usable without paying, but remote control over Wi‑Fi is the paid feature.
Yes, $20 is described as an unusually low price for an Anova sous vide cooker and a good way to try sous vide without spending much. Several comments compare it favorably to earlier prices around $25 or much higher past purchases.
It can be slow to get going compared with larger Anova units. One report says it heats noticeably slower than an 800W display model, though it still reaches temperature and works fine for cooking.

The app is supported/free (for now...)
other than that, it's a good brand at a good (repeating) price.

I think though this is the lowest it's ever been with previous low being around $25 but may be wrong?

- Had a pro since 2016. Still works but the dial is not accurate any more. I have to set the temp on the app
- Bought a new replacement last year. No issues, it's been great and used 3-4 times a week. Heats up faster than my original.
I have not used the mini in this post but I am thinking of picking it up for smaller things. Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank
