It's a crappy brand now, that they made the app subscription for the ovens. Do you really want to deal with a company that is nickel and diming you even on basic features to use the app?

Couldn't agree more. This is future e-waste once Anova stops supporting the device. At least with physical controls on a sous vide, you can always use them regardless of a Bluetooth app no longer being supported.

Thanks - was unsure how much of it was in the app.
I think though this is the lowest it's ever been with previous low being around $25 but may be wrong?

The only way a price this low makes any sense for Anova is if they are confident in locking you in to their platform. It's a shame, been using using and recommending their pre-Bluetooth sous vide stuff for years and they were the ones who made sous vide possible for the consumer market

Cautious to get anything else from Anova. I have the steam oven which requires the app. While it's currently free to grandfathered accounts, they break things weekly with their updates.

Lots of negative talk about Anova. My experience has only been positive:
  • Had a pro since 2016. Still works but the dial is not accurate any more. I have to set the temp on the app
  • Bought a new replacement last year. No issues, it's been great and used 3-4 times a week. Heats up faster than my original.
I have not used the mini in this post but I am thinking of picking it up for smaller things.
