This DeWalt 20V Max XR oscillating tool kit is a versatile all purpose cutter for trim, drywall, grout, caulk, doors, and other tight spot jobs. The quick blade change and wide range of compatible blades and accessories stand out, and the included battery, charger, and bag make the $99 kit feel complete. The main drawback is blade wear, especially in wood and harder materials, so keeping extras on hand helps. A handy kit for occasional repairs and remodeling.
Common Questions (5)
It is useful for sticking doors, cutting rusty bolts, detailed sanding, removing old caulk and grout, trimming molding, cutting drywall, and door-jamb work for flooring. It can also cut into flat surfaces without pre-drilling, which helps when working around obstacles like cabinet wiring.
Yes. The kit is described as a strong deal at $99, especially because it includes the XR oscillating tool, two 1.5Ah batteries, charger, and bag. A similar exact kit was bought for $79 earlier, so $99 is still considered a solid current price.
Yes, blade life can be short, especially when cutting wood or hard woods. Drywall and similar materials are easier on blades, and keeping a multi-pack or using aftermarket/correct-task blades can help.
Yes. It is used for grout removal with diamond blades and for scraping floors or pulling up tile with reshaped old blades. Carbide burrs and scrapers also expand its usefulness for grout, adhesive, and shaping work.
Blade changes are very fast and use a simple press-release mechanism. The catch is that it takes strong hand pressure to release and install blades, so gloves or extra leverage can help.

1. The two 1.5Ah are plenty fine for 99% of people using it. This is not the combo/tool deal if you're a contractor or have a big job (not sure what that would be too much for this tool, but that's my thought)
2. $99 is good price.
My reasoning?
probably 12+ years ago I bought a DeWalt 20v drill w/2 1.5Ah batteries for $99. Today I still use that drill and batteries. Have DeWalt air pump that uses these batts also. No issues.
I also have M12 tools, including a drill... the ergonomics of the Dewalt drill is so much better than the M12 drill that I will often grab my old DeWalt drill instead of the much newer M12 drill.
