Wow...so 30% more than last year is considered a slick deal? I have a 3800, but it doesn't impress me any more than my rz-50, which can be had for hundreds less and includes plenty of Dirac.

I got the RZ30 for 800ish and was wondering if this is a "better" product. It's my first Onkyo, and I certainly miss my Denon.

To be fair same happened to the RZ50(& everywhere).
The new low for that is now $900 from $750.

The 3800 offers many other features over the RZ50 for the extra $200-$300.
If they are of no benefit then yes save the money.

Depends who you ask.
Someone who prefers Denon will say yes.

If that's not a concern then it's falls to features you need/want.

Of course the 3800 has many more features than the RZ30.
If you don't need or want them, it's not worth paying the extra money imo.

Vietnam imports have a 20% tariff and the higher end Denon models made in Japan have a 15% tariff. Onkyo may be absorbing more of their tariff expense than Denon. Keeping this discussion as apolitical as possible, there's only so long that companies can continue to absorb the tariffs.

Also, inflation ran about 3% between 2024 and 2025.

You should sell your 3800 to someone is more than willing to take the machine all the way to Dirac ART.

Deal price looks fine for me - but I tested on the 6800H, and the code doesn't work. Promo code cannot be added to your cart

The Vietnam imports are made by a third party
The made in Japan models are actually made by Denon/Marantz

Denon/Marantz sales volume was off over 25%, year over year ,according to reports. This was BEFORE Masimo fire saled the whole group to Harman International( Samsung)

Prices have gone up 8-10 percent MSRP wise
But I really dont think street price has
There are several people on AVS forum claiming they bought higher end Denon products( X6800 for example) for close to 50% off MSRP recently from independent retailers

Any of those independent retailers that you know of in Southern California?

Looking to get a 3800 but holding out for $1K and will continue to use my marantz sr7007 until/if that happens

Unfortunately..I cant tell you on that model
I was looking at people who were posting deals they obtained on models like the X6800

Too bad no time machine. You would have been well served to troll Best buy for the Magnolia stores that were changing formats a few months ago
people were buying the demo/showroom X3800 for about $650

I bought a few AVR's from that sale as well as 10 Kef Meta speakers

The X3800 has been sub $1000 a few times now if I recall correctly
if you are in hurry I would wait

I was following that Best Buy thread but all the locations around me were not doing the clearance, at least not the ones I visited.

I am not in a hurry so I can wait or even wait until the next gen. My biggest reason I want is for the better room correction, and the dual HDMI output so I can send a signal to my TV and to my Philips Hue Sync box, right now the sync box drops the signal so I am hoping the dual output will fix that issue.

Are people posting those independent retailers on the AVSForum or do you have a list yourself? I can call and ask around for prices

Check in the Denon X6800 owner's thread on AVS forum...the owners will let you know what they are finding

Not that it matters much now and perhaps you already know
I see that people were finding closeout deals at the at some Culver City and San Jose CA stores in that older thread

I probably will not bring it to ART - which I understand is a major buying point on this unit. Hopefully my next amp, will be a Denon again. The Onkyo at 800ish was a good deal, it's just not a Denon.
