Poor man's Surface Pro at this price. Too bad it's not the Elite CPU.

Beware ASUS open box at BestBuy only has 90 days ASUS warranty and after that, Best Buy will charge you a deductible for repair. I'm entirely disappointed with the ASUS-BestBuy relationship. For being one of their largest resellers, they (ASUS) treats their customers like crap.

I bought this in excellent condition for a similar price in the summer. I decided to return as I wanted a machine to learn coding on and some SDK'S don't fully support Windows ARM just yet. Otherwise I was quite impressed. It's a beautiful screen, decent trackpad, good speakers. The performance was totally fine, didn't notice any issues and I'm quite hard to please in that regard. I ended up with a ProArt P16... a very different machine. If the form factor works for you, I recommend this. I disagree on the poor-mans surface pro. This is better than what you'd get at twice the price with the higher ram and storage

I have a feeling ARM windows won't be supported for too much longer (again). The new mobile chips from AMD and Intel pretty much removed the advantages of the snapdragon chipset. word of warning.

Beware of buying open-box items from Best Buy.
I bought an open-box device from Best Buy that was listed as "Excellent" and "included everything." However, the charger was missing, and there was no way to power it on. I had to purchase an aftermarket 65W charger separately.
Later, I bought a second unit intending to give it to my wife. This time, the package only contained the detachable keyboard—the main unit itself was missing.
I went to a nearby local store, but the store manager said they were not responsible for online purchases. I then called customer service, and they were unable to help. I filed a complaint with the BBB, but the Best Buy representative insisted that everything had been sent.
I filed a chargeback with my credit card company, and Best Buy responded with incorrect information, referring to my first purchase instead of the second one.
Based on my experience, I strongly suspect internal handling or inventory issues, as sending empty or incomplete boxes should not happen. I have stopped buying from Best Buy and will not purchase from them again.

You don't think there will be a new gen of Snapdragon that will be even better and how the new chips might better AMD and Intel? Remember this is the Snapdragon first gen in this series of chips.

I know you are well-versed in ARM-based laptops, and since I am planning on getting this for creative work, can you confirm if this would run apps like DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, etc?

The number of mis-graded open box items certainly has increased. The definitions of each grade are pretty clear, but as you found out, some dummy probably didn't even look for a charger and just graded the laptop as Excellent. Others are just flat incorrectly graded. Like you, I received a laptop with no laptop, just a charger! In my case, our local BB store was able to identify which BB the laptop shipped to me from, and they checked their backroom and found the laptop. Some dummy didn't put it in the box before shipping. I believe every BB store is responsible for handling shipped item issues. As a matter of fact, in my case, I called first and support told me to go to a store to handle it.

I'm not well-versed, but both DaVinci and Photoshop say they run on Windows ARM. I don't use either of those software's myself.

I have been hearing that for 15 years. The prices from reputable online sellers aren't that much cheaper.

There will be, but the 1st gen was not even close to being successful, the software support is still not there, and I I don't think customers will return because they are realizing the limitations and promises not kept + AMD and Intel have equally performing chips now and those actually run the 99% of apps the arm chips don't.

It's good that your local store was willing to help you. Unfortunately, the store manager at my local store refused to take any action and insisted that they were not responsible for online purchases. The manager also treated me as if I were a thief trying to take advantage of the refund policy. When I asked for assistance in filing a police report, they took away the remaining detachable keyboard and did not allow me to contact the police using the evidence I had.

It sounds like you have quite a story to tell. Have you tried contacting BB Corporate? I'm not sure who runs your local BB, but sounds like someone needs to lose their job. Have you tried contacting your CC company to dispute the charge?

I filed a complaint with the BBB, and a Best Buy representative responded. I asked them to review the shipment-packaging footage and verify the package weight to confirm whether the laptop was actually shipped, but the representative refused and stated that the case was closed.
I then filed a chargeback with my credit card company. However, Best Buy provided false and incorrect information. I filed charge back for the second purchase, but Best Buy submitted the shipment details from the first purchase instead. And so BestBuy won the case and the bank mailed me all the document that the Bestbuy provided to them. As a result, I had to ask my bank, Bank of America, to review the case again. Make sure Bestbuy need to respond to the second purchase. Unfortunately, their customer service and dispute departments did not communicate effectively. While customer service understood my situation, they failed to properly relay the issue to the dispute department. I ended up calling customer service three or four times, but eventually gave up because the process was extremely frustrating.
