If your frame of reference is $30 rice cookers by Aroma, then yes, this is expensive.

However, most rice fanatics like brands like this and Zojirushi. They're generally north of $100, sometimes very far north of it.

This is a fantastic deal. Even if it goes on sale, it's usually $160.

Moist rice from cooking under pressure. Newer models are $500 what do you mean they are expensive?

Isn't this an insane deal? I thought pressure rice cookers were typically $300+. Especially the Cuckoo brand.

I bought a whole bunch to handout as Christmas gifts.

It is misleading. It is not a pressure cooker. It is just a rice cooker.

The higher end ones ($300+) feature the IH (induction heating) technology (along with better sensors and more premium/durable inner pot coating). This model doesn't do IH.

Zojirushi, Tiger, Panasonic = Japanese.
Cuckoo, Cuchen = Korean.
All of them are great. Koreans and Japanese brands have slightly different cooking algorithm (stickier vs fluffy).
