I have 2 and they won't take updates any more. Just a year old.
That's weird I have an R7, R4, and R3 still taking updates. That's disappointing with the R8

Not sure if it's the detector or the program. I tried it on two computers and it says no detector.

Maybe the USB cable is bad?

You cannot ban these. It's like asking to ban people from listening to the person talking right next to you 🤣

I read up on it. It's something with the program not the detector.

Radar detectors are illegal in VA. I use Waze all the time, even when driving in other states. And it's free. Just saying, as an alternative to spending money on the detector.

I have both the R8 and R8w. These are probably the best detectors with the least false alerts. Make sure you scan for the radar guns used in your area or the areas you drive and you can custom filter all those false alerts.

The main upgrade is directional arrows that indicate where the signal is coming from. The R8 does have better range as well, but the R3 has more than sufficient range. I'd recommend an R7 over the R8 if you want to upgrade to arrows.

This vs Valentine? I really like that Valentine will updates units instead of having to buy a new one every time new tech comes out.
