Unfortunately, I was overly optimistic. First, enabling LE Audio in Windows is only possible in rare circumstances where the OEM provided driver indicates LE Audio support, even if the underlying chipset is rated for Bluetooth 5.2+. Secondly, even if your computer supports it or you buy a secondary dongle, the audio quality still drops terribly when the mic is active.
I will spare all the details but check out the Reddit thread "WH-1000XM6 via LC3 - a limited experience for gaming" for more of a breakdown.
Overall, I found nothing in the Sony WH-1000XM6's to be a worthwhile upgrade without working LE Audio and returned them. I'll continue with my Sony WH-1000XM5's (and an external mic for gaming) for the foreseeable future.
Community Reviews
Sony's WH 1000XM6 is being discussed as a brand new, authorized eBay listing for Sony's flagship noise canceling headphones, with up to 30 hour battery life, quick charging, multipoint, and app support. The strongest draw is the familiar XM series sound and noise cancellation, with several comparisons saying it sounds essentially the same as the XM5. The coupon can be finicky, sometimes only showing the discount at checkout, and warranty coverage is debated even though the seller is described as authorized. Fragile hinge complaints and limited gaming improvements with LE Audio are the main cautions, making it a solid fit if those tradeoffs are acceptable.
Shoppers buying from authorized Sony dealers who want warranty-backed new units, because authorized sellers are described as providing standard Sony warranty coverage.
Listeners upgrading from older Sony over-ear models who want similar sound, because the XM6 sounds identical to the XM5 for everyday listening.
Commuters who want strong noise cancellation and all-day wear, because the listing specifies best noise cancellation, up to 30-hour battery life, and quick charging.
People who game on Windows with a separate microphone, because the XM6's audio can drop when the mic is active and an external mic avoids that.
Shoppers who need the discount to apply smoothly before checkout, because the coupon can fail or only appear after reaching checkout.
Gamers who need full-quality Bluetooth audio while using the microphone, because LE Audio support can be unavailable on Windows and sound still drops when the mic is active.
People who expect a durable hinge for heavy daily folding, because fragile hinge complaints are a recurring concern.
Buyers who want light-colored ear pads to stay clean, because non-black ear pads can get dirty quickly.

But these are longtime authorized Sony dealers (BuyDig & Electronics Express) selling brand new products. Your receipt will show all the relevant information from eBay like the condition and the seller and such which can be used for your Sony Warranty.
If you have information that says otherwise about a recent change to their policy, please do share, because this is how it's been forever.

BuyDig is a well-known authorized retailer, and if they are selling through eBay, it's very likely that their products will be covered by Sony's warranty, even if the price is listed only on eBay. The key factor is whether the product is purchased directly from an authorized Sony dealer, not necessarily where the product is sold (eBay, Amazon, etc.).

I have the XM4 and think they're great! Just curious if the upgrade to the XM6 is worth it.
Thanks again!
