Got AirPod 2 pro and Beats Solo 4 as a Christmas present for someone, came out to like $230. Should I return and get these instead? They are a really small person with a small head and ears though. The Sony earbuds and headphones look super big/heavy. Anyone who has them let me know how big they are? Thanks

Beats Solo are on-ear headphones and these are over-ear, so a bit different style. Almost all headphones with active noise cancellation (Beats Studio, Apple Airpods Max) are like these - I used my WH1000MX3 over-ear headphones daily for years and never thought they were too big or heavy.

That's a nice deal. When the hinges break on the xm5's you'll have the earbuds as backups.

From what I understand, Sony headphone and Apple AirPods are the better ones

I've used them almost everyday for nearly 2 years, and bought them refurb. They are my primary work headset for meetings and headphones for listening to music, getting 5-6 hours of usage a day.

How in the actual f*** is anyone managing to break the hinges? Are people just tossing them in a bag constantly and banging them around like morons?

These are hands down the greatest headphones I've ever had

The sound of music is amazing.

The noise canceling is also truly awesome. Whether is a very noisy environment like on an airplane or a home with fans running... these headphones block it all so they are absolutely quiet.

You can also set it up so that if someone speaks to you, it let's the voice through and auto reduces the sound of whatever you were listening to. In a few seconds if there is no more talking, the music auto turns back up.

This is only some of the reasons these ate awesome.

So don't get just, get 2 pair. Lol

Achilles heel of the xm5 is that you can easily break the swivel hinge where the earcups connect to the headband

These will definitely break at the hinge. I've gone through 2 pairs of these, broke in the exact same spot. Upgraded to the xm6.

Was able to return the earbuds. Amazon calculates the Sony WH-1000XM5 @ $182 and the earbuds at $66. So the net cost of Sony WH-1000XM5 was $182.
