Was watching comparison reviews for this vs the Legion pro 7i last night. Sometime after midnight I refreshed the best buy page, saw this price, and instantly jumped on it.

Pickup only. Shipping price still not worth it in my opinion

Knowing this only comes with 3 months warranty from Asus, should I buy Best Buy total membership, or just geeksquad warranty

Thank God this isn't the white one, or I wouldn't be able to stop myself 😆

I stop using Asus Zephyrus laptop after bad experience with M16/g16 2023, even with 3 fans the laptop is as hot af. CPU can barely sustain 25W combined load with 100W RTX 4070. It's a versatile laptop but it's a no no for long gaming session. This one with newer design, soldered RAM and even slimmer isn't better thermally.
Going back to thick Legion laptop and bought a Legion pro 7i.

Around 2022-23 Asus was known for having bad liquid metal application from the factory. You should've RMA'd for one that cooled properly. Or if you were out of warranty just done a repaste on your own. It's like a 30-min ordeal.

I own a 2023 Zephyrus g16 and it's been brilliant. But I realize there were a lot of bad samples for that generation.

Where do you see it only comes with a 3 month warranty? Looking under the warranty tab, and talking with customer service yesterday, it comes with a one year warranty.

Believe me, it's a known fact that Asus bumps their warranty down to only 3 months on anything sold as Open box, despite what BB says on their end. There are people here that learned the hard way. Google "asus policy on open box best buy".

I've recently become addicted to total tech membership coverage. Scored two sweet open box laptops and now so things like get new phones and get the drop coverage for two years included.

So by getting Total it's essentially buying a Geeksquad warranty. I understand I have to allow it renew to get the 2nd year of coverage. I just wasn't sure since the wording kept mentioning Apple care.

I may give this a go.. Having a 60 day return window gives me peace of mind, too (nvm.. waited too long. deal dead lol)

I knew when I first tested my unit because the delta temp is too big among CPU cores. I paid small amount to have professional technician to reapply the liquid metal. Still have a photo of bad application before reapplication.
Yes it perform better but no where close my expection, and the application deteriorated after 1 year and a half. 25W CPU + 95W GPU during in gaming and CPU temp is always reaching 95 degree C, it's not throttling but that temp is too high for my taste and the fan noise is like crazy.

Thanks for that information. I got a open box and a new one, and undecided which one I should keep.

I also bought an open-box Zephyrus G14. The previous owner only had it for a week but registered the product. Currently, the MyAsus app shows the warranty is valid until 12/15/2026.

I can't re-register it to my own account without contacting Asus. However, I suspect if I ask them to clear the registration, they will ask for my receipt (which says 'Open Box') and they'll downgrade the warranty to just 3 months.

If I leave the registration as-is (under the previous owner), will I have trouble getting warranty service later?

Does Asus typically ask for proof of purchase at the time of a claim, or do they just go by the serial number and whether it shows under warranty or not in their systems?"

I've never gone through the process myself, but I've seen others mention having to show their receipt. May be their way of confirming if they're dealing with the original owner. Unless you know the original owner personally there's no way of tricking Asus.
