I bought this EXACT same combo from Microcenter in August for $599.99 just before the RAM prices went thru the roof, so given the current landscape, it selling for $669.99 is not horrible. But I think it is being spurred on by the reported precipitous drops in motherboard sales in November. Yea, the timings on this RAM are not amazing but for MOST people this is not game breaking. The exact same combo with a 7800x3d is currently $569.99 if you are that price concious and still a decent buy - using current RAM insanity as context.
I was lucky that I bought at the time and had also bought spare sticks of RAM before prices went up. So during Black Friday I was able to jump all over the really great motherboard deals... but I know in most situations no one, including me, would buy ram like that - I just had a weird moment where I had the money and the cost was reasonable...
Long post short - if you need the RAM - this is a DECENT deal overall and SOLID deal given current RAM prices - if you think holding out will help, chances are that this stuff is stock bought before RAM prices actually went up and they are only able to discount deeply BECAUSE it was bought at lower rate, once this stuff leaves stock new RAM prices must be assumed to be going up for a while and holding given what all the manufacturers are stating about their plans with supply.
