Buyer beware. They haven't shipped my order from weeks ago yet. I know the date says as much, but it's a little strange especially with the incoming potential ban.

I think this is important to repeat.

You don't need the "transceiver" to fly the Neo 2 using your phone but if one day you want to use one of the remotes and the googles, you need to buy that those equipments PLUS you will need one small piece called a "transceiver" that attaches to the back of the Neo 2 and is sold separately if you buy this package (other more expensive Neo2 packages include the transceiver inside the box).

The transceiver is not easy to find and when you do manage to find an authentic one (not a fake), they're pretty expensive avg $75.

DJI Neo 2 is a compact, highly portable drone that shines for quick takeoffs, gesture control, and phone flying, with auto shot modes and support for goggles and FPV controllers. The drone can fly without a remote or phone for basic actions, while the phone extends setup and manual control. Range is limited on phone control, and real world flight time is short, around 7 to 10 minutes per battery. This drone only package does not include the transceiver needed for goggles or remote use, and Amazon shipping has been inconsistent for some orders.

Common Questions (5)

  • Shipping is inconsistent: some orders arrive on time, but others sit unshipped for weeks or show delivery dates far out. Amazon also appears to charge only when the item ships, and refunds if it never arrives.

  • No. The drone-only package does not include the FPV transceiver or a remote, so phone control is the basic out-of-box option. If you later want goggles or FPV controllers, you need the separate transceiver and compatible controller bundle.

    SlickCrayon1512kensteelephoceanEdbmsm

  • It can take off and perform basic actions from the pocket using built-in buttons and gesture control, and it also works with a phone for manual control. A remote is only needed if you want longer-distance flying and more advanced FPV use.

    TFreakburgunlimitedlvlkingdenniz518wiseghost

  • Phone control is listed at up to 500 meters officially, with real-world open-area range often around 200-300 meters. One comment also cites a phone-controlled open-area test at about 300 meters, while the remote can reach higher altitude, including 120 meters up.

    wiseghostwiseghostkingdenniz518

  • Battery life is short, with reports around 7 to 10 minutes per battery. That limited runtime is the main reason some buyers pass on it or choose a different drone.

That's the problem with these drones from Amazon, you never know for sure when they will ship. Not only the ones from the sellers but also the ones shipped from Amazon. Hit or miss. I don't think the shipments are trying to hit the Dec 23 because it's likely they can still ship after that date. I have an order placed on Dec 6 that tells me I should expect it on Feb 1.
Mine have delivered promptly/met the promised delivery windows.

I also put in an order from this same outfit on December 7 on Amazon, and it still hasn't shipped yet. Very disappointing.

I have purchased one of these transceivers on AliExpress. It still hasn't shipped yet. Am I likely to receive a fake? Are there documented cases already of people receiving a fake one of these? Is it completely useless if so?

I mean, I guess anything is foldable if you put enough force in to it.

If the seller does not go through with the order, will Amazon refund? I think the answer is yes but I'm looking for prior experience.

ship by amazon , not 3rd party so pretty safe, plus you won't get charge until actually shipped

This thing is awesome for portability.. you dont even need your phone to have it take off and do a bunch of things right out of your pocket! Everything is excellent in my opinion except.. cant deal with wind or go far. You still can control it with phone manually as well and a controller for farther distance.

I was surprised these were available since DJI did not launch it in the US. Warranty support for that reason could be an issue, but I'm taking a risk since the price is pretty much MSRP and not absurdly marked up. Amazon will DEFINITELY refund you if you're charged and don't get your purchase, but as others mention you don't get charged unless it actually ships (and it is shipped by Amazon).

New to all of this - Is there any chance these get bricked or are otherwise unable to fly if a ban goes into effect?
The ban is supposed to only restrict/ban new drones/devices

Do i need a remote for this or can i fly it with my phone?
You dont need a remote or phone..it has a button to.alter the shooting modes..u will need your phone to modify the settings of each modes... distance is limited with phone control. ...with the remote. It allows u to go 120m up...

Postban? Your current DJI gear still works, but support, parts, and firmware updates requiring FCC approval become difficult
