You don't need the "transceiver" to fly the Neo 2 using your phone but if one day you want to use one of the remotes and the googles, you need to buy that those equipments PLUS you will need one small piece called a "transceiver" that attaches to the back of the Neo 2 and is sold separately if you buy this package (other more expensive Neo2 packages include the transceiver inside the box).
The transceiver is not easy to find and when you do manage to find an authentic one (not a fake), they're pretty expensive avg $75.

DJI Neo 2 is a compact, highly portable drone that shines for quick takeoffs, gesture control, and phone flying, with auto shot modes and support for goggles and FPV controllers. The drone can fly without a remote or phone for basic actions, while the phone extends setup and manual control. Range is limited on phone control, and real world flight time is short, around 7 to 10 minutes per battery. This drone only package does not include the transceiver needed for goggles or remote use, and Amazon shipping has been inconsistent for some orders.
Common Questions (5)
Shipping is inconsistent: some orders arrive on time, but others sit unshipped for weeks or show delivery dates far out. Amazon also appears to charge only when the item ships, and refunds if it never arrives.
No. The drone-only package does not include the FPV transceiver or a remote, so phone control is the basic out-of-box option. If you later want goggles or FPV controllers, you need the separate transceiver and compatible controller bundle.
It can take off and perform basic actions from the pocket using built-in buttons and gesture control, and it also works with a phone for manual control. A remote is only needed if you want longer-distance flying and more advanced FPV use.
Phone control is listed at up to 500 meters officially, with real-world open-area range often around 200-300 meters. One comment also cites a phone-controlled open-area test at about 300 meters, while the remote can reach higher altitude, including 120 meters up.
Battery life is short, with reports around 7 to 10 minutes per battery. That limited runtime is the main reason some buyers pass on it or choose a different drone.

Around Black Friday I got the Neo 2 three batteries the RCN3 and the transceiver for $361 + $30 shipping. That price went up to over $413

That's not true; stop with the b.s. The truth is we don't know for sure. Some DJI drones are already being stopped from entering so this would be no different.
They are more like knockoffs and from what I have seen, they are accurately labeled as "non-OEM" and I have no idea how well they work. If your ad says OEM or original or DJI then you are likely to get the real thing.
There should not be any restrictions on the Neo drones since they all have FCC so until that is revoked, we should be fine. Hardly any DJI drone is getting parts and repair in the US today so that won't change even after Dec.
I bought my first one from eBay. The purchase from Amazon is for those who have Amazon credits piling up and need to use them, those who enjoy 5% Amazon discounts, anyone who wants to buy the Amazon-provided insurance rather than the eBay provided-insurance and anyone who wants the convenience of easily returning the drone right down the street instead of mailing it back to Asia in case the drone arrives DOA. This is my 2nd NEO2 purchase and I have no problem waiting. Otherwise I agree with you, eBay is the preferred way.
You said "the ban coming Tuesday won't allow these in the country."
I said the government will not prohibit DJI drones from coming into the country starting on Tuesday. Regardless of what someone says in a speech or on a government memo or at some hearing or testimony. It's gotta happen on the ground because that's all we care about it. But that shouldn't matter much because you said "you know for sure."
What would you like to bet? SD rules, $5?
As you know, DJI drones shipped from DJI are already being stopped and possibly confiscated today which is why DJI has stopped shipping drones to the US. To be clear, we are not talking about this. Me and thousands of others are getting our drones from eBay and Amazon (some with tariffs and apparently some without) but you say that ends starting Tuesday due to Dec 23 order to add DJI to the covered list, right?
Let's see how sure you are. My position is we don't know this for sure but obviously you win the bet if everyone reports their drones are blocked and I win the bet if me and others continue to receive DJI drones after Tuesday (meaning since I'm not sure, I don't believe it will be stopped).
No excuses, no games, no just some models, not eventually but on Tuesday, no weasel words (you can't claim some drones are slipping thru the cracks or they confiscated one, or they're not being properly declared but if they were...., etc). You have a deal. Because I realize we are totally screwed if this happens and me losing this "bet" will be nothing compared to the reprecussions.

I am weary of all the interpretations of worst-case scenarios, and especially in the timing. We are in uncharted territory - the party that stands for capitalistic free-markets has the whole supply chain not following laws of economics, rather everyone gambling hot potato musical chairs. I can say there are a couple of puppets needing to do a multi -phased ban attack that is serialized so has a few delay elements.
I was in that tail (er, yaw) spin - got the M5P and Air 3s, but hesitating on that awesome tele lens on the Mavic 4 Pro has. Got the Nero combo at the cost of the N3 goggle motion set, so with the addition of an FPV controller 3, I can only hope to build a cine drone with a DJI 04 Pro I cant find. Need to register _soon, yet the uncertainty of doing the 107 later when I start pro next year. What a mess.
FCC was so under-staffed for decades, it was a running joke anything got done. A version of irony had DOGE slash FCC further, yet with even less, it seems to so highly efficient working on this unproven "issue", it's magic!
It's as if someone is on the board of some company, while hating on Meta saved TikTock.
There's no consistency, so forget logic, red tape, complex federal processes when deciding to buy, there is just One Rule(r). So, understanding that, by definition, the answer is "No", MB in public is no longer illegal. And it's now a matter of "who you know". Do something with the jerk and you might just get to keep your chinese drone.
