They cost more, but get one of the wooden ones with handles on the side instead. I use mine as extra counter space and frankly, it's more stable and just looks way better. Just watch out when running the oven with it in place. It's perfectly safe but it will warp slightly over time.

I don't understand these. If I need more counter space, using the stovetop area without a mat seems just as good as putting a mat down first. And I wouldn't have to figure out how to store and clean the mat.
