They generally have good performance for the price, and many find the user interface to be easier to use, especially for those older or not very good at tech. They aren't good if you want to sideload or heavily modify them, people who buy them want them to just work without extra steps.

They're kind of like the Apple in the streaming box space (ignore Apple TV being a thing) -- the devices just work. OS is easy to use. And I actually like the Roku Channel with all the free channels.

I upgraded to this from the 2022 version, it was the same price to replace the remote so I bought this instead. While it's faster overall, but I don't like it because it's buggy, especially with the youtube app.

Because Rokus aren't running an Android-based OS, you can't sideload apps. But you can add unofficial/private channels that aren't listed in the Roku store.

This process used to be like the wild west, where you could add just about anything, but it's somewhat limited now.

What are the reasons to get a ROKU? Chromecast TVs just WORK for me, plus perfect Casting from my devices. I know Firestick is for the side loading Apps people..
But what are the reasons for ROKU, just CHEAP and EASY?
