This Donruss Basketball Mega Box is mainly a low-cost rip for fun, gift giving, or younger kids, with 30 more cards than the Haunted Hoops trick or treat set and a higher card quality feel. The price can drop well below the listed total with rewards or certificates, and the box has even been found elsewhere for a dollar less. The main drawback is that paper Donruss is mostly junk wax with little real hit value, and this is last year's set, so Flagg is not included. A decent retail break if you are not chasing big cards.
Common Questions (5)
It is mostly a fun rip rather than a hit-chasing product: paper Donruss is described as junk-wax style with few cards of real value, and retail Mega boxes are usually only slightly better than blasters. If you want big-money cards, Donruss basketball is not the place to look; hobby boxes or other chrome products are the better value targets.
Yes, it is a good low-stakes gift or kid-friendly opening at this price. It is also compared favorably to other retail sets because it has 30 more cards than the Haunted Hoops trick-or-treat set for the same price.
Yes. A $5 certificate brought the shipped total to $17.29 with tax, and another purchase used $5 and $10 BB rewards to get the box down to $6.55 after tax.
No. This is last year's set, so Flagg is not included, and Topps now has the NBA license.
Multiple boxes can be ordered, but some quantities may go backordered after checkout. One order got a couple boxes immediately while the rest were backordered.
