This is a Wi Fi 6 mesh kit best suited for extending coverage across a house, especially when wired backhaul is available. ASUS AiMesh compatibility lets mixed ASUS routers work together, and wired setups are described as stable with strong coverage. Wireless backhaul can still perform well, with tri band systems delivering much better range and faster remote room speeds than dual band setups. Caveats include reports of weak signal, daily crashes, and stock firmware problems, plus it is less compelling if you already have wiring or need seamless compatibility with TP Link gear.

As someone with very little understanding of wifi systems - I have xfinity at home, and my kids always complain that their games are laggy, and their zoom calls drop a lot. Will this fix that, and work with the white box from comcast?
Go with a tri-band system unless you will run wires between these units.
As an alternative, Xfinity has these small nodes/pucks like extenders, that may alleviate your internet issues, if you are already paying for the Xfinity gateway. Last time I looked into this, I believe one free node was included with your gateway/Xfinity provided device.

Also, the issue you are mentioning may be related to your uploads and downloads speeds. Go with qt least the 500 or 800 mbps plan. Depending on how many kids/devices they use, there is a possibility that not enough internet is coming in.
From the parental perspective, maybe it's a good thing that the games don't always work flawlessly, hehehe

Yes- the provided ISP routers are crap. This will you to expand the range of your wireless network. One device will plug directly into your Comcast cable modem (it will no longer function as a router) and the other device will be placed on another side of the house (ex. Opposite on another floor). You'll need to do some testing to determine the best location, especially if you happen to use wireless cameras, etc

Google "bufferbloat". I've been fighting this for years, unknowingly until now. The router you choose could make all the difference for lag and bad ping.

On the product page ASUS is offering to participate in the EDU program. Anyone has tried it and is there anything applicable to this deal?

No. The $99 BD5 is for one park. Otherwise, I would have posted it already.

Most of these consumers that buy into mesh systems probably using them as wireless. If you have the capability of hardwiring, you're likely smart enough to just utilize ubiquiti apsTL;DR You want triband set up if you can't hardwire your nodes together which i'm willing to bet 99% of you are.
Imagine being so confident and so wrong.

anyone have the deco x5700 to compare to this. these look good but no back haul vs front haul separation.
deco doesnt have true separation but allows for other deco units the ability to push clients now to the lower 5gh1 which used to be dedicated backhaul (2x2 radio 1200mpbs). and allows for better use of the 160mhz fronthaul ( 3x3 160mhz 3600mpbs)
