The series was first envisioned to be monthly 2-hour TV movies. The first (the pilot) was released in movie cinemas overseas.

I am sure the first pilot was shot in widescreen, some of the following episodes possibly.

I am impressed how well 1960's Hogan's Heroes was transferred to widescreen TV.

Film was good tech.
