We about double the loads that they advertise, you don't need the amount the cap tells you to fill it to. Less is actually more for cleaning. For stains we just pre treat and for dirtier loads we just use longer cycles and warmer temps. Otherwise it's the short cycle and cold water and no drying except for towels and undergarments. Air dry the rest. Our clothes last so much longer since we started doing this. Our kids clothes were in great shape when we handed them down.
