Don't buy a stainless steel fish knife. They don't hold an edge and dull quickly.

Dexter 7" flexible filet knife (they make a 9" as well but 99% of fishermen won't need it). Here's the manufacturer's link [dexteroutdoors.com] but they sell at MSRP but this is much cheaper on other online e-tailers (don't want to promote any site but you get the idea). I understand your point. I fillet maybe 10 fish a year that I caught, on cheap knifes. Some of my bigger fish I am struggling with a shorter knife so I am looking for a tad longer ones. I just honed the knife before fillet, so far it's working for me.

Yes, I hate dull knifes. But if it's just something I use a dozen times a year, I probably don't want to spend a lot on it. I can always sharpen it.

Yes you are right, it's a good deal for what you are getting and I did not TD the post, etc. But honestly I fish 12-15 times a year as well but catch many keepers most days I decide to go out (my wife and I surf fish). So I sharpen after every trip but that's me. I suppose I'm dulling my blade faster than most but depending on your usage you will appreciate a better blade.

BTW I'm fishing red and black drum, speckled trout, etc. For me a flexible knife is important to minimize waste and I will often clean 24" redfish, 17" trout, and 26" black drum with a 7" flexible filet knife. Sheepshead in the early spring as well. For me, a 9" is too long.
