I know, the 30-second limit is quite restrictive! The Blink Mini live view automatically stops after 30 seconds unless you tap "continue" to extend it. With the subscription ($3/month), you get 90 minutes of continuous live view instead.
Several customers mention this limitation is frustrating, especially when using it as a baby monitor or for extended monitoring

these things are meh... they good for watching something as hobby then anything security related.
Id check your local market and see if you can get them for 5 bucks. or at least opt for mini 2
as mention they require a sub or sync 2 module( or newer) with required usb thumb drive(sd card xr module) to have the ability to store motion detection.. by that point you have spent too much on blink. sync 2 module is slow as snails too. ask it to check a live view then switch to reviewing clips and system craps the bed and says its busy.

should i grab the 2k version for $20? I have an "upgrade" discount that doesn't require trade-in

It's 30 seconds because all video footage is routed directly to Amazon servers before being sent to the app for viewing. If they allowed you to keep a live view up constantly, then it would eat into their profits.
$10 is pretty cheap for the privilege of sharing video footage inside of your home with Amazon for their AI training purposes, flock and law enforcement. If you want to show Mr. Bezos how gently you pork your wife, it's much cheaper than Ring.

If u can grab it for less than 10 with ur trade go ahead. I don't advise to further invest in blink if you dont have to. Again these are hobby cameras to me. Animal watching or checking in on a spot u want to mointor

Same crap as wyze pulls where every other feature has been put behind a paywall. I replaced all my wyze cams with tapo ones not to long back and can get all the SANE features needed without a subscription. The cameras also supports dual streams of RTSP on top of writing to the microsd. This allows for a low quality stream which is used for ai detection of people etc using something like frigate so you aren't using full 2k streams and killing your wifi. On wyze it only handles one stream and if you pick rtsp in addition to losing all cloud features I want to say you also lost the ability to write to the microsd which just seemed stupid. Add to that even if you have the "cam lite" free subscription from back when your cams originally HAD people detection built in and then lost it if you ever wanted to upgrade to anything newer than the v3 camera's (like when one of them dies and they no longer sell the v3) then the cam lite subcription is no longer sufficient. They tied it to specific generations of camera's (after the fact too as at the time the "Free" subscription came out it was the v2 gen of cameras.)
