Just remember, most coleman and similar tents are sized using an old military standard that was based on stuffing dudes in a tent head to foot. A good rule for thumb for regular folks is to divide the stated capacity by 2 for more comfort. For example, this 2-man tent is probably better for a solo camper, while an 8-man tent will work for 4 people.
YMMV of course depending on how snuggly your camping buddies are.
All that said, the Sundome is a classic car camping tent and a super value for what you get.

Got this for $20 on a woot deal last year. Went camping twice with it, once alone and once with my 6 year old. Definitely a tight fit for 2 but an awesome and easy to setup tent! I'm 6' and it just about fits me perfectly length wise. It gets a bit toasty in the heat but I can't complain for a $20 tent, and i attached a fan to the loop at the top which helped!

the rainfly will let you down when you need it, it just drips down onto the walls and will eventually drip through. i use this as a backup or to hold gear. it's a good value regardless.

Exactly. For me personally a "3 person" tent is perfect for solo camping. As you mentioned, the rated number of people they have for tents generally speaking are for fit people packed like sardines in a tin can

almost all tents are sized based on sleeping pad / cot sizes

this is 60" wide which is more than enough space for 2 large size cots or sleeping pads side by side with a little extra space or big enough for a queen sized air mattress

also, coleman makes luxury / easy camping tents, which this is clearly not
