Sweetwater has the "M-Audio BX5 Graphite" 5-inch Active Studio Monitor for $49.99. This model seems to be a newer model of the referenced BX5 D3 (MSRP $150, in the last year it dropped to $100-120), simmilar response in frequency and loudness, but I found these differences:
- Carbon fiber woofer instead of kevlar woofer (carbon fiber is stiffer and lighter than kevlar, which helps improve transient response and reduce unwanted resonance at high volumes)
- Dimensions are 11.73" x 9.09" x 7.24" and weight is 17lb, which is heavier and bigger than BX5 D3, it has a more spacious internal enclosure which can influence bass response and acoustic accuracy.
- Inputs includes XLR, TRS 1/4" (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced), instead of XLR and TRS 1/4" balanced from the BX5 D3.

I could say that it is not as compact and lighter as the BX5 D3, but it has interesting improvements. Near that price, it is impossible to find a 5" active reference studio monitors.
