Delete google one first using the op link. Then you can re-subscribe with the discounted price. The refund will be in your email.

The PayPal 1000 point offer works through the Google One App. Just make sure you activate the offer in the payment process. Then you'll receive an email from PayPal that the points are on their way

anyone have >15gb data stored when they cancelled the sub and removed the service? I'm thinking of doing the cancellation but just want to be sure that i won't lose the stored data.

I didn't lose any. When it gets full you won't be able to upload any more. I was on the 200GB and several times I let the subscription expire and renewed later and the data was still there. However I would make sure you have a backup prior just in case

wow, thanks. it's been a long time since something worked so smoothly from cancelling to getting a prorate refund so quickly to signing up for the new sub only promo and triggering a PayPal offer in under 10 minutes. That has to be a record!

Do they offer this discount frequently, or is this rare? I don't need it now but might need it next year.

Yes had 70gb on a 100gb plan. Followed instructions and deleted service and resubscribed after an hour after partial refund. All data still there. Had to re enable family sharing to 5 accounts though.

https://policies.google.com/privacy#infocollect

We (Google) also collect the content you create, upload, or receive from others when using our services. This includes things like email you write and receive, photos and videos you save, docs and spreadsheets you create, and comments you make on YouTube videos.
....
....
We use information to help improve the safety and reliability of our services. This includes detecting, preventing, and responding to fraud, abuse, security risks, and technical issues that could harm Google, our users, or the public.
....
We use the information we collect in existing services to help us develop new ones.

So if someone(or some company) think the private data you upload may contain something that can harm them (like you may have made a public post that mentioned something bad(or something negative about a company or individual), they can ask Google to verify if the private data you stored in Google's services contain additional information like that?

Can (Google) using info collected in any of the data you uploaded to develop new ones including stealing ideas you may have put in the documentation you uploaded to Google Drive/Doc, etc?

Cancellation worked and resubcription worked for me too.

So do we cancel Google one via Google Play first, or go straight for "Cancel your membership and delete information from Google One" on delete a Google service via Google account?
