Not for regular tasks. For example, If you need 14GB, you need 14GB. RAM is not the same as GPU.

Yeah. I don't know why people come up with these random rules. It seems like Lenovo went out of there way to save a few bucks and produce a non-standard laptop.Good luck to whoever splurges on this crap.

Got this last bf and i say its really good quality. Lcd screen has great pictures, smooth and so far so good for the price.

12 GB of RAM is really odd. Also, reading the "reviews" on the B&H website, I get the feeling that most of them are fake, or at the very least written by the same person.

It should have 2x SODIMM slots, with 8 GB and 4 GB, so 8 GB in dual-channel, 4 GB in single-channel:

You haven't been paying attention if you haven't seen laptops with 12 GB before, but it's usually something like soldered + SODIMM.
