The ZenBook 14 stands out as a thin OLED touchscreen laptop with strong everyday performance from the Ultra 7 255H, and the open box price around $535 to $650 makes it look attractive for the hardware. The 14 inch display, 16GB memory, and 512GB SSD fit a portable productivity setup, and the chip is framed as better for brute force work than AI focused Lunar Lake parts. The main drawbacks are soldered RAM, a low 13 TOPS NPU rating, and reports of loud fan behavior. Screen clarity and speakers also drew criticism, making it a solid compact option if those tradeoffs are acceptable.

  • The open-box "fair" option has been reported as priced around $535 and described as new minus AC.

  • The NPU TOPS rating is presented as a way to compare AI hardware capability using trillions of operations per second.

  • The deal can be compared favorably against a Samsung Book 5 Pro purchase when considering OLED and higher RAM/storage configurations.

  • The 255H model may suit brute-force processing needs on paper compared with higher-TOPS variants.

  • Open-box pricing has been reported as not eligible for Best Buy price matching.

  • Open-box units have been reported to suffer from fan noise that never stops, which can make the laptop unpleasant to use.

  • The soldered RAM design has been called out as a drawback because it limits future upgrades.

  • The OLED display has been reported as weirdly blurry and the speakers have been reported as poor after a return.

I actually did get the AC charger with the open box fair on this last time when it went on sale. However, when I bought the S 16, I didn't get the AC. Do you know if they do price match on open boxes?

Read the description, next to NPU it says 13 TOPS. Trillions of operations per second. A way to compare the AI ability of hardware.

The OmniBook X Flip is 3k OLED that 120 hz display. If that was the one you are fearing to.OmniBook is better and cheaper.... but this is Ultra Core 7

13 TOPS seems pretty low if 45 is minimum (or was it 40 TOPS for CoPilot). not that I care about it but eventually other software can use the NPU and more the better at some point.
