Comments are spot on. I gambled on a "Like New" controller for $30 from Amazon and it was dirty and the stick drift was completely stuck to one side.

Checkout 8bitdo controllers. Some of the newer ones use Hall Effect sticks that are supposed to eliminate sick drift
