That was the wonderboom SE (essentially a wonderboom 3 for sams club and walmart).

That SE variant has micro USB, and this wonderboom 4 has USB-C. Rtings says that is the only meaningful difference, so it's really up to preference. IMO, I'm pretty much done with micro USB.

You're partially correct that it is the Wonderboom SE, but it's really the Wonderboom 4 inside with a USB-C charging port. I bought 2 last time and was confused because the box said Wonderboom SE but the manual said Wonderboom 4, paired as the Wonderboom 4 and had a USB-C cable and port.

Can confirm this. Also bought one of the SE's from Sam's Club and it has USB-C charging.

Oh Nice. Thanks for the comment. I ended up returning one of the soda can style Boom's SE or EXC because it had micro USB. Good to see that they aren't cheap-ing out on these. Now I feel like I missed out on that sams club deal!

I bought two of the Wonderboom SE from Sam's, and both have "Wonderboom 4" embossed on the bottom of them. The only difference between the SE and the 4 is the box.
