The Tapo C200 is a budget indoor pan and tilt camera with a strong app, local recording hub support, and built in AI for person, line crossing, and pet detection. It also fits well into the Tapo and Kasa ecosystem, with no subscription and Alexa or Google compatibility. Used units are the main risk here, since the like new condition has arrived with wrong or dirty items, and TP Link reportedly offers no warranty on used cameras. Hardware versions can also differ, affecting features and motor noise, so this is best for shoppers comfortable with resale uncertainty.

Common Questions (5)

  • Not reliably. The used listing can arrive with unrelated items, residue on the camera, or other condition issues, so paying more for 'Like New' does not guarantee a better unit.

  • Used units do not have TP-Link warranty coverage. If one fails, Amazon return or replacement is the practical fallback.

  • It can work outdoors under a porch or overhang for years if it is protected from the elements. Pan/tilt tracking may drift, and windy conditions can make tracking go haywire, so turning tracking off and occasionally unplugging it can help.

  • Use a microSD card rated for at least 100MB/s read and write. Slower cards can be damaged by the camera's recording workload.

  • Yes. Units can arrive as different hardware revisions, such as v3 and v5, and the versions can differ in features like person-only push notifications and in pan/tilt motor noise.

Amazon product page says I paid $13 (after some discount) in Dec 2024. This model used to goes on sale every few months back then. I've purchased quite a lot of used stuff on Amazon for years since return policy is good (never needed to use it though).

TP-Link Tapo/Kasa has a large ecosystem, very inexpensive (vs. Anker Eufy), no subscription necessary and open to others systems like Alexa/Google (vs Amazon or Google Nest), and quite stable and consistent (vs Wyze which could go down any time and dying to be acquired).
I bought 2 back then as well. Got 2 different hardware versions...a v3 that has more features but a noisier pan/tilt motor than the v5. Only the v3 can send push notification on only person detection instead of all motion... the v5 didn't have that choice.

I bought like new twice, the first time they sent me some kid stuff, the second time they sent me a camera with some yellow unknown stuff on it
Amazon Resale Is a crapshoot. When they list different conditions with different prices, there's no point getting the more expensive "like new" ones as they just randomly pick them to send you.
