The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe stands out as a fun way to make high protein, lower sugar frozen treats at home, from Frosty style chocolate bases to fruit, Dole whip, and even cottage cheese or Greek yogurt blends. The texture is the big draw, and the motor is described as strong enough to handle daily use, though loud. Practical tips help with results, like letting the pint sit before spinning and using hot water on the container sides. The main cautions are the prep work, ingredient cost, and some refurbished units failing or needing warranty help, so it suits tinkerers who want custom desserts.

  • The machine can produce low-sugar, high-protein frozen treats that taste like a chocolate frosty.

  • The recipe approach can be repeatable, using measured milk, pudding mix, and sucralose drops for lower-calorie results.

  • The motor can feel strong, and the unit can run for months without signs of concern for daily use.

  • Troubleshooting with Ninja can lead to a replacement base at no cost when the unit fails to power on.

  • A refurbished unit can fail to turn back on after only a few uses, even after troubleshooting.

  • A Woot refurbished purchase can stop working when it is tried after the return window ends.

  • The 90-day Woot warranty may not meaningfully reduce risk if a refurbished unit breaks during that period.

  • The machine can require extra prep work and ingredient purchases, which can reduce the savings versus store-bought treats.

Bought a Woot one back on Sept as others, and have been really digging it. I make all sorts of wild concoctions, most of which have a base that is mostly either whole milk Greek yogurt, whole milk ricotta, or full fat cottage cheese. From there, you just cut in some fruit or a date and some powdered PB2 or whatever. In the end it's easy to go low sugar and make a fairly reasonable dessert. I'm convinced now that the reason I like ice cream is 90% the texture, and just nail that with cottage cheese and add some frozen cherries or the like and I'm good! Dole whip is really good. Made an Orange Julius knock off the other day that made me feel like a teenager at the mall again. Highly recommend if you can put in the prep effort and stand a little noise.

If you buy whatever ricotta or whatnot that is on sale, it's pretty slick, and if you factor in that the ingredients can be healthy and won't land you in the hospital down the road, the price per quart is VERY slick.

I am about to try some really out there stuff like the black bean chocolate base?!? Woo ha! I am also convinced I can make dippin dots with the right mix of ricotta - I've accidentally come close a couple times already.

Fairlife chocolate milk, scoop of zero sugar chocolate jello instant pudding mix, scoop of chocolate protein powder. Tastes like a chocolate frosty and it's actually good for you!
"Good for you"? Fairlife milk is highly processed and denatured, and the chocolate milk is riddled with artificial ingredients. Jello mix is a wasteland of toxic chemicals. Your recipe is definitely less healthy than simple ice cream made with real milk/cream and sugar, because the latter is real food and your recipe is not.

The point was that it tastes like a frosty but with better macros -

Frosty
500 cal
16g protein
80g carbs
12.5g fat

My recipe
400 cal
50g protein
29g carbs
10g fat

Nobody is eating a frosty to be healthy but this is a healthier version of it for people who track their macronutrients. Some of us enjoy a snack every now and then

Is this associated with the model that was shaving plastic bits? Anyone know?

you're missing the forest for the trees. Processing isn't automatically bad and nothing in fair life is particularly concerning. Certainly less so than the questionable diet most people have. This makes an ice cream that's effectively a protein shake that you can eat every day

jello pudding mix is cornstarch with some flavorings, emulsifiers, and sweeteners. Neither that or special milk is needed. they're just shortcuts. you can make the same thing on your own with "whole ingredients" and slightly more work

I got one of these when they were new for Father's Day. They're fun, but its a lot of work and not that much cheaper to make them once you buy all the ingredients.

You specifically said it was good for you. There's nothing good about what you proposed. What would be good is real minimally processed milk, cocoa powder, and a protein mix without chemicals. Your recipe was horrifying and probably worse than a Frosty.

Real ice cream is ten times less unhealthy than the industrial sludge recipe he proposed. Fairlife chocolate milk is made with acesulfame potassium and sucralose. Jello pudding mix is made with mono and diglycerides, red 40, and yellow 5, which are horrendous chemicals which are about to be reclassified as unfit for human consumption by the FDA. The OP is making himself an absolutely toxic stew and pretending it's good for him because of the "macros".
