  • This #1 New York Times bestseller is a "bold and subversive retelling of the goddess's story" that brilliantly reimagines the life of Circe, formidable sorceress of The Odyssey (Alexandra Alter, TheNew York Times).
  • In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born.
  • But Circe is a strange child -- not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother.

Your comment got me interested but AFAIK Miller has not yet written either a sequel to Circe or a book called Trainee. If you are writing from the future please DM me. I have questions.

I read this a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Madeline Miller's best book in my opinion.

The sequel "triange" was a more pointed story. Three story lines that had me in a 180 by the end.

I really enjoyed the audiobook. It got me through some very boring structural steelwork.

If you want more ancient Greece, you might like A Thousand Ships, read by the author Natalie Haynes. An alternate view of the Iliad and Odyssey, from the perspective of the women.

Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield is another good one. Narrative of the Battle of Thermopylae from Spartan perspective.
