For me, 60/40 is probably the lowest blend percentage I'd find acceptable. I tend to try to shop for at least 70% wool and I also tend to try to stay away from 100%. I've got a lot of 100% merino stuff and every single piece has at least 1 hole in it. 100% is just really delicate fabric. The high percentage wool blends give the wool something to grab hold to. Like, my underwear I like are like 80/20. The 20% is basically a nylon pantyhose type fabric that acts as a frame for the merino to be woven through. It creates a much sturdier piece of clothing.

Now, I've got some 50/50 shirts and I don't quite care for them. I feel like I can tell it's not enough wool. Kinda hard to explain unless you wear the 50/50 and then wear a higher blend ratio.

Too much leftover eggnog. FYI these are pretty good quality and not to be mistaken with factory style ones that sell for the same amount after their clearance sales.

Take a look at ralph lauren's website. You can find some good deals in the boys sale section

I'm not an expert on wool content, but when comparing to a majority of other merino wool containing clothing, 60% is pretty decent. The higher the merino wool content, the more expensive it gets. Items with 70%+ merino wool tend to be much more expensive. One highly coveted wool sweater is the Banana Republic one that is typically sold at Costco for ~$25 and has 100% merino wool. It is currently available at the Banana Republic website for $32 which is still a good price.

So isn't that a better deal?

That one has a thinner look, has no zipper, and has a regular shirt neckline while this sweater covers most of the neck and has the zipper. Wool content yeah the other one is better, but ultimately it depends on what you want out of your sweater. 60% wool will still keep you warm and might be more stretchy and comfortable to wear and take on and off. Being final sale makes it difficult for me personally to decide.
