Sadly due to all tariffs, it's much harder to get good Japanese knives imported on the cheap. Tojiro BASIC VG10 Gyuto 200mm used to be around $35-45, is now closer to $50-75 or is just sold out at the lower prices.

I think I have something like that with fake Damascus patterns - it is sharp and a bit brittle. The edge will chip if not handled with care.

I like it and I think it worth the money and looks great but I don't know how to restore the edge after it's been thrown in the sink, dishwasher, etc. Also people who like to test the edge with their fingers can get pretty nasty cuts.
