I have several of the Tapo 2k versions like this:
https://www.amazon.com/indoor-pet...to_dp&th=1

I like the controls it has and resolution is fine but they don't pickup fine movements as well as other cameras I've had. I use them for security indoors and out, and also have some outdoors to watch wildlife. They record larger animals but often miss birds even when they're only 6-8 ft in front of the camera. They work great for security though and I really like the pan/tilt feature.

The 2 were compared in reviews and the 2k isn't any better. Apparently the compression used on the 2k resolution negates any quality advantage. That was for these models in particular. Hope that's not the case for all of their 2k cameras.

Isn't 2k essentially 1920x1080?

I have some webcams like that but they claim 2.5k in that case, the reason I'm even mentioning this is because sometimes webcam manufacturers will pixel double and get these weird resolutions, like doubling 1280x720, but looking at the 2k version it's not conclusive which one is better.

I have both. The 1080p version is absolute trash compared to the 2k one not to mention the 2k version offers many more AI detection abilities and has a considerably better mount option.

6-8ft might be too far for birds. I have one about 12" away from my bird bath and it works great from that distance

I had run an experiment with an EZviz camera side by side with the Tapo. The EZviz picked up all the birds while the Tapo missed a lot. Not sure why but I had the Tapo set on the most sensitive setting and it still only recorded some events. It was missing Cardinals... not just small birds.

I have another Tapo and I'm going to set it up close to the bird baths, just need to get another sd card for it. I had given all the EZviz cameras away as they were lower resolution.
