Community Reviews

Amazon Business accounts can unlock extra pricing and signup promos, including the 50 percent off offer, occasional business pricing, and other opening incentives like trial memberships or reward points. The setup can be separate from a personal Prime account, and Business Prime Essentials was described as free or very cheap, though it does not include Prime Video. Shipping and deal access need attention because personal Prime does not carry over, some purchases need the business account for the discount, and not every posted deal appears on business accounts. A practical option if you want to compare business pricing against your regular account.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. A separate Business Prime account can be set up for free alongside an existing standard Prime account, but personal Prime benefits do not apply to Business purchases and Business Prime Essentials does not include Prime Video.

  • Business pricing can be the same or lower than personal pricing, and some business offers include extra discounts such as buy-two savings. Business accounts also miss many personal-account promos, and some deals or shipping thresholds may require checking the Business account versus the personal account.

  • The 35% up to $100 version of the promo reportedly applied to third-party sellers as well, and the 50% offer has been used on linked deal items like the iHealth BP Monitor. Availability still depends on whether the item is shown as eligible in the Business account.

  • The setup can ask you to identify the business as a sole proprietor and may request verification of the information. It can also let you connect the Business account to your private account using the same address, while keeping the accounts separate.

  • The offer appears on the Account page as a prompt to open a Business Account, and the discount should arrive by email immediately after setup. The exact offer can vary, so if the shown discount is much lower, logging out and trying again may surface the correct promo.

Is there any down side to having a business account compared to a normal account?
I currently have a normal account and have the choice to convert it to business account.
Some of the business prices are lower (and occasionally much lower) than personal. Oddly, it's often on items you wouldn't expect, like dog food. On the down side, the business accounts are eligible for the credit card promos (Chase, Discover, etc) and S&S promos (e.g. 30% on your next S&S) far, far less often than the personal accounts. Ideally, open the business account with a separate email when it asks, so that way you have both account types and can compare pricing for any given purchase.
