If it is real CR-MO, then who makes them almost doesn't matter. Typically if you are going non USA made then the stuff from Taiwan is the best. The reason there is an impact and regular socket is because regular chrome sockets are hardened and when used on an impact can split or shatter. Impact sockets are softer and usually have thicker sidewalls. They are made to absorb the shocks of an impact and not split or shatter. Hence it really doesn't matter who makes the impact socket, so long as it meets the metal standard all others are made with.

Probably not for any serious use.

I need just one to take off my lug nuts and/or torque them back down.

How will I know if it is made of the material I want/need? Will I have to just test it by trial and error?

Too bad they start at 10MM. My car battery support is 8MM, would be nice to have that in there too. Oh well.

Per the posted photos, these sockets have square corners = stress riser. There is no need to use an impact socket on fastener that's smaller than 14 mm. A good 1/2" impact socket set should come with 27 mm, 30 mm, and 32 mm. Cr V is as good as Cr Mo when properly heat treated. Don't fall into the Cr Mo marketing hype.

A heavier impact socket has more momentum to remove the fastener.

Thanks, Ordered the deepwell set. Should be able to handle my CR-V lug nuts.

Interesting I had the set and another item in my cart and when I applied the coupon it did not work. With only the socket set in my cart the discount applied.

I also got free same day shipping. I figured I'd need a filler but since the original price started above the $25 threshold I guess it counted for free shipping?

This is CR-MO steel, but the manufacturing quality differs significantly from Taiwan or US-made versions due to cost-cutting Chinese production methods. While reviews suggest it can handle 1000 ft-lbs of torque, the questionable quality control makes that claim uncertain. Additionally, there's no warranty coverage beyond Amazon's standard return period.

Legitimate brands cost 2-4 times more, so the real question is whether you're willing to accept the risk. I'm still deciding whether to keep or return mine since I won't exceed 600 ft-lbs and mainly need deep sockets.

Regarding the storage rail: it's poorly made. The magnet barely holds the sockets, and it actually fell apart when I took it out of the box.

Just buy a single 21mm or whatever your lugs are and use that instead of a set

How did you know I needed a 21mm?!?!?! I was looking at just getting one socket but it was nearly the same price as this set for a brand I never head of. If I get a snap on 19mm/21mm socket it would be way more. I'll check these when they come in. Most likely grab the snap on and leave it in my vehicle.
